A BETTER WAY

Let's Look at this Differently

We started Velocio because we believed there was a better way to create, market and celebrate cycling and cycling apparel. Launching with a women’s collection in 2014, our approach has been driven by three pillars.

DESIGN

Creating Better

We make our clothing starting from zero. Every piece employs our own patterns, our own fabrics and our own look at cycling. From the functional details to the leading edge design, to manufacturing and development, our design-first approach is at the heart of finding a better way. Each of our pieces aims to solve a problem common to cycling apparel.

As we undertake those challenges, we aim to do it authentically, iteratively and artfully. We ride thousands of hours per year and creating our own patterns lets us iterate quickly and personally. The result is a better final product aimed at improving every ride. Through this design, ride, repeat process, we find more of the changes, the touch points and the little details that make great apparel. Velocio is a tangible, noticeable brand precisely because we’re making clothing from the ground up.

WHITEPAPERS: COMPRESSION

Responsibility

Committed to a higher standard

Making highly technical cycling apparel is ultimately bad for the environment. Cycling apparel has followed fast fashion into a culture of snatch and grab turnover. Here today. Landfill tomorrow.

We take responsibility for our role in sustainable sourcing by seeking out the most environmentally responsible suppliers possible. Our jersey collection is made from recycled fabrics and, increasingly, our bib short collection is following suit as raw materials allow. We use biodegradable packaging in our shipping materials. We’re the only cycling apparel brand that gives 1% of its revenue to environmental causes, a fact that we celebrated with a special collaboration jersey with 1% for the Planet. Furthermore, our manufacturing partner follows EU labor guidelines which oversee conditions of employment, discrimination, equal pay and the protection of pregnant workers.

CREATING COMMUNITY

The people behind Velocio are passionate about cycling, predominantly come from a racing background and have organized their personal lives around the sport. Yet, our focus has been on being inclusive, experiential, and welcoming. (There really isn't a bike we don't love.) Our Unity Jersey project, begun in 2017 has raised money for progressive causes aimed at finding a better way to treat people. We’ve given money from sales of our clothing to the ACLU, World Bicycle Relief, the Human Rights Campaign, Amnesty International, RAICES, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. See us at events at our mobile Airstream Pop Up Shop and you’re likely to find a passionate group of riders seeking out a better experience. Finally, our ambassadors reflect who we are: from former top-tier professional riders to rider leaders, chefs, photographers, teachers, and advocates, these people make manifest our beliefs as a brand.

AMBASSADORS

SO, LET'S LOOK AT THIS DIFFERENTLY

That there is a better way to make kit, ride, work and design is the thread running through Velocio. It’s what makes us unique and what drives us to find products, people and events that highlight a better riding experience.
